Suggested song: “Great Is Your Faithfulness” by Martin Smith
In the midst of pouring out his heart to God about the pain, trials, and trouble he has faced, the author of Lamentations stops to remind himself about God’s continual, daily goodness in his life. In the same way, it’s helpful for us to meditate on the truth of God’s goodness especially when we are going through difficult circumstances. In hard times, our emotions can deceive us, and either they will rule us, or we will stand on the truth of God’s word about who He really is.
As you read, ask yourself these questions:
- What does this passage tell me about God?
- What does this passage tell me about myself?
- How can I apply this passage to my life?
